Making your Hot End Fan Silent on your Creality Sprite Extruder Pro

The Hot End Fan that comes with the extruder is very loud. You can reduce the noise by replacing it with a 5015 Blower Fan (see here: https://www.printables.com/model/244570-ender-3-sprite-extruder-hot-end-fan-replacement-wi).

But if you want you can also add a Buck Converter between the fan and mainboard on the back of the extruder. This is the easy solution as it does not require to take the entire extruder apart.

The only thing you need to do is:

1)      Remove the extruder from your mount (using the 4 screws on the right side of the extruder).

2)      Disconnect the hot end fan connector from the circuit board on the extruder.

3)      Insert the buck converter between the fan and circuit board.

4)      Mount the Buck Converter on top of the fan mount (see photo).

I ordered these JST-GH connectors 1.25 pitch from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-1-25mm-Connector-Socket-Female/dp/B09F2ZP59T). But be careful with these as the red & black cables are reversed to the one of the hot end fan (black is 24v & red is GND).

I ordered this buck converter as it is very small: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32998937888.html

I soldered a female JST-GH connector to the IN+ & GND (black on IN+ & red on GND).

Then soldered a male JST-GH Connector to the VO+ & GND (black on VO+ and red on GND).

I added some Heat Shrink Tubing to the cables and to cover the majority of the Buck Converter, making sure to leave the little screw uncovered.

Finally tuck the spare cables lengths away and mount the buck converter on the top of the fan. For the mounting I printed a small 15mm x 10mm x 3mm block and used double sided tape to fix it to the fan.

The only thing left to do is to mount the extruder back on the printer and start the printer up.
Then you can use the small screw on the buck converter to adjust the fan speed.

Happy printing…
